Tell us what needs to be done between Earth Day 2008 and Earth Day 2009 to make the world a more stable, healthier place, and you could be selected to receive $1,000.00 to use toward your goal of being a better steward of God's creation!

The contest begins April 22, 2008 and ends January 1, 2009. The winners will be announced by the Kentucky Council of Churches' Program Unit on Local Economies and the Environment on April 22, 2009. Only one grand prize of $1,000.00 will be awarded, but each entry will receive a small prize.

No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Contest is open to any KY resident. The winner in each age bracket will be published in the KY Council of Churches' newsletter, the Intercom. There is no cost to participate. All entries must be postmarked by January 1, 2009. Age as of April 22, 2008:

Birth to age 7
Tell us in your own handwriting (or transcribed by an adult if under age 5 or if assistance is required) in your own words, without prompting by adults, "What will you do this year to help take care of God's Earth?" You may work on your own or with a group of others your age.

Age 8 to 14
In your own handwriting (unless assistance is required) in your own words, without any additional assistance from anyone else, write an essay about
"What will you do this year to help your Church take care of God's Earth?" You may work on your own or with a group of others your age.

Age 15 to 18
Write an action plan for your congregation that delineates what environmental changes should be made in the facility and the lives of the attendees. Describe what has already been done and lay out a roadmap for achieving a more sustainable future. Include a persuasive argument to motivate your target audience to help them understand why they need make these changes.

Age 19 and up
Write an action plan for your congregation that prioritizes the most effective environmental changes can be made in the facility and the lives of the attendees. Describe what has already been done and lay out a roadmap for achieving a more sustainable future. Include scientifically accurate data to persuade your target audience to make these changes.

Analyze the current Energy Bill and rewrite it to make it more in tune with God's desires for us to take care of God's Creation. Explain why you decided to make the changes that you made
